SHED, the company I work for as a colorist asked me to direct a Doritos commercial for the Crash The Superbowl Contest. This one was tricky to grade. A commercial featuring a lot of visual effects is always a new experiment in terms of post production workflow. The entire post was done here @ SHED. There was a lot of work to do and everything had to be done simultaneously in order to meet the deadline. This meant that I had to grade the original footage and plates out of context (without having the shots composited together). Good com

But sometimes the hardest part of the job is not always to create a beautiful look… It’s making sure that your color grading is getting along with every shot of your project or scene. Here’s the first television commercial I graded from A to Z over at SHED: The grading was done using Autodesk Lustre, part of the Flame Premium family. Coming from an Adobe After Effects and Apple Color world, it was quite scary and mind boggling at first… but when you overcome the strange user interface and the different architecture, it works great.
